Payment Options for an Immigration Bond in Iowa

An immigration bond can allow an eligible person to leave ICE detention while their case continues. They must follow the conditions of release. Not everyone in ICE custody can get a bond.

With Amistad, cash or an approved home can back the bond. This is called collateral. Collateral and service fees are separate. Amistad does not lend you the bond money.

You provide a cash deposit equal to the full bond amount. We hold that money as collateral and handle the bond documents and electronic submission.

The deposit may be returned after ICE formally cancels the bond and the agreement's requirements are met. The bond fee and application fee are non-refundable service charges.

Use an approved home with Amistad

A qualifying home can back the bond instead of a full cash deposit. The initial property review is free. A home with a mortgage may qualify, but we must review the property and the rules where it is located.

A legal claim called a lien secures the bond against the home. You keep ownership, but the property is at risk if money becomes due under the agreement and is not paid. Notary fees and applicable county fees are separate.

Common Questions

Can I start from outside Iowa?+

Yes. You can contact Amistad Bail Bonds by phone or online from another state. If you use a home as collateral, we will explain the required signatures, notarization, and document delivery.

Is an immigration bond the same as county bail?+

No. County bail relates to a criminal case. An immigration bond relates to ICE custody. Paying one does not automatically clear the other.

Do I get my collateral back when the person leaves the jail?+

Release alone does not end the bond. ICE must formally cancel it, and the agreement's requirements must be met before cash is returned or the property lien is released.

Can Amistad get a bond set or lower the amount?+

Amistad does not make those decisions. If no bond has been set, or you want to challenge a decision, speak with an immigration attorney.
