    OUR STORY

    How We Got Here

    1

    BEFORE AMISTAD

    Seeing the Process Up Close

Before founding Amistad, Paul had already helped friends and family with state and local bonds. He experienced the process from the family's side and saw how confusing it could be, particularly for Spanish-speaking families.

    2009

    Amistad Bail Bonds Is Born

Paul founded Amistad Bail Bonds in Raleigh, North Carolina. The company began with state and local bail bonds, serving families in English and Spanish.

    3

    A PERSONAL CONNECTION

    Immigration Was Also Personal

Paul was born in Peru and came to the United States as a child. He later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Immigration also affected people close to him, including family members who experienced immigration detention and deportation. During his years at McDonald's, employees and their families often turned to Paul for help translating and understanding unfamiliar processes. Years later, many of those same concerns are what he hears from the families who call Amistad every day: where their loved one is, what happens next, and what they can do to help. For Paul, those calls have never been simply a transaction.

    GROWING DEMAND

Families Started Asking About Immigration Bonds

As Amistad grew, families increasingly asked for help with immigration bonds. At first, Amistad had to process these bonds through a broker authorized by Allegheny, adding another layer between Amistad, the surety company and the family.

    5

    THE DIRECT PATH

    Working Directly

Amistad was already working directly with Allegheny Casualty Company for state bonds, but immigration bonds required additional authorization. For years, we had to process them through a broker authorized by Allegheny. Over time, Amistad's experience and track record led Allegheny to authorize us to handle immigration bonds directly. After completing the required process, we gained direct access to ICE eBonds and no longer needed a broker for each bond.

    6

    TODAY

    A More Direct Process

Today, Amistad handles its immigration bond process directly. We prepare the documents and handle bond confirmation and submission through ICE eBonds. Working directly also allowed us to eliminate the additional broker fee and communicate more directly throughout the process. It took years of experience and relationship-building to get here.

I understand how much hope families place in this process. My goal is to make the bond part clear and straightforward.
