How to Pay an Immigration Bond in Rhode Island
An immigration bond may allow someone to leave ICE detention while their case continues. They must follow the bond conditions and attend required hearings. An immigration bond is separate from bail in a criminal case. With Amistad, you can leave cash or use an approved house to back the bond. This is called collateral. The service fees are separate from that cash or house. You may also pay the full bond amount directly to ICE if you meet its requirements.
Cash Deposit With Amistad Bail Bonds
You deposit cash equal to the full bond amount. We hold it as collateral and handle the bond paperwork.
- Cash deposit
- Full bond amount
- Bond fee (premium)
- 2% of the bond amount
- Application fee
- $100
- Annual fees
- $0
Your deposit is not a fee. It may be returned after ICE cancels the bond and all agreement terms are met.

An approved house can be used instead of a full cash deposit. We review the house at no cost. Having a mortgage does not always rule it out.
- Collateral
- Approved property
- Bond fee (premium)
- 15% of the bond amount
- Application fee
- $100
- Annual fees
- $0
A lien is placed on your house to secure the bond, but you keep ownership. Our goal is to complete the bond and release the lien — not take your home. If ICE declares the bond forfeited and the full bond amount becomes due, you can avoid foreclosure by paying Amistad Bail Bonds the amount owed under your agreement. Your home is at risk if that debt goes unpaid. Notary fees and the county fee to record the lien release are separate.
Pay ICE Directly
You can also pay ICE directly. If you meet their requirements, you send ICE the full bond amount and handle the steps yourself — without paying any Amistad Bail Bonds fees.
Example: A $10,000 Bond
With Cash
$10,300
Total to start
- $10,000 cash deposit
- $200 bond fee
- $100 application fee
With Property
$1,600
Amistad Bail Bonds fees to start
- $1,500 bond fee
- $100 application fee
- Plus approved property as collateral
This is an example, not a quote or property approval. Notary and applicable county fees are separate.
How to Get Started With Amistad Bail Bonds
You don't need everything ready to call. Here's what helps us get started.

- The name of the detention center, if known

What Happens Next
- 1
Choose how to pay
We explain the cash and house options and what each one costs. If you want to use a house, we review it before you move forward.
- 2
Complete the paperwork and payment
Fill out the application and sign the agreement. If you use a house, the required owners must sign the property document before a notary. Send us a clear scan for review. Once approved, follow our instructions to send the original using the prepaid FedEx label.
- 3
We check the bond details with ICE
Once the required documents and payment are complete, we ask ICE to confirm the bond details.
- 4
We send the bond to ICE online
After ICE confirms the details, we send the bond through its online system for approval. ICE must accept the bond before the release process can move forward.
How Long Does Release Take After the Bond Is Paid?
There is no set release time. ICE must accept the bond first. The detention center then handles the person's release. Some people leave the same day; others wait longer. Amistad cannot promise a release date or time.
Before leaving to pick up your family member, confirm the release plan with the detention center. Tell us if you know about another case or hold. An immigration bond does not resolve a separate criminal case.
Confirm the Release Plan Before Traveling
No bond company can promise a same-day release. ICE controls bond approval, and the detention center controls when the person can leave.
Before traveling to pick up your family member, confirm the release plan with the detention center.

Detention Center, ICE Office or Court?
These are different places with different purposes.
Detention center
The place where the person is being held. Ask the center about visits, calls and arrangements for picking someone up.
ICE office
A government office that handles immigration custody matters and appointments. Its address does not tell you where your family member is being held. Official ICE Locator
Immigration court
Handles the immigration case and hearings. It may be in another state. EOIR, the agency that runs these courts, lists Wyatt under Chelmsford Immigration Court in Massachusetts. Check the latest hearing notice for where and how to attend. Check EOIR Case Information
Court notices are the official reference. The EOIR tool does not show every case or every detail.
