Confirm That the Person Is Still in Portland

A person may be processed in Portland and transferred before the family receives complete information. Check the ICE Online Detainee Locator before visiting the Portland office, calling a detention facility or sending mail.

If you do not have the A-Number, our guide explains how to search with the person's full legal name, country of birth and date of birth.

The Person May Be Transferred to Tacoma or Another Facility

One possible regional destination is the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington. A transfer to Tacoma is not automatic, and ICE may use another facility. Confirm the locator result before relying on the information below.

Do Not Travel on an Assumption

Use the official ICE locator or confirm custody directly. The Portland arrest or office location does not prove that the person is now in Tacoma.

Portland Immigration Court Is a Different Location

The Portland Immigration Court handles immigration court proceedings; it is not a detention facility.

    Court

    Address

    1220 SW 3rd Avenue, Suite 500, Portland, OR 97204

If a person is transferred to another state, the court handling the detained case may also be different. The official hearing notice and EOIR case information control. Do not assume the court from the arrest city.

    Bond Already Set?

If ICE or an immigration judge has already set the bond amount, call with the person's name, A-Number, current detention information and bond amount. You do not need to visit the Portland ERO office, the bond window or a detention facility to begin the Amistad process.

After the application and agreement requirements are complete, Amistad submits the surety bond electronically through ICE eBonds. ICE processes the bond and the detention facility coordinates release. Timing varies and cannot be guaranteed.

    What to Have Ready

    • Full legal name
    • A-Number, if available
    • Current detention facility, if confirmed
    • Bond amount, if already set

You do not need every item before calling. Start with what you have and Amistad will explain what is still needed.
