Where Is the Person Being Held After an ICE Arrest in Oregon?
ICE lists Enforcement and Removal Operations offices in Portland, Eugene and Medford, but its current public detention-facility directory does not list a long-term immigration detention center in Oregon. An ICE office, a county jail and an immigration detention facility are not the same place.

Not Sure Where the Person Is Now?
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with the person's A-Number, or search by full legal name, country of birth and date of birth. A result may not appear immediately while the person is being processed or transferred.
Transferred Outside Oregon?
A person taken into ICE custody in Oregon may be transferred to another state. One possible regional destination is the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington, which operates under the Seattle Field Office, but transfers vary by case.
Do not assume the person is in Tacoma or any other facility. Confirm the current location before calling a facility, arranging a visit or starting location-specific steps.

Someone encountered by ICE in Portland, Salem, Eugene, Medford or another Oregon community may be processed in one place and held somewhere else. The arrest city does not prove the current detention location.
Why Oregon Is Different
Oregon law prohibits state and local public bodies from entering agreements to house people for federal civil immigration violations and prohibits private immigration detention facilities within the state. ICE remains a federal agency and continues to operate ERO offices in Oregon. For families, the practical point is simple: a person taken into ICE custody in Oregon may be moved out of state.

Where the person is currently held.
The current facility may be outside Oregon. The locator result controls.
ICE ERO Office
Handles check-ins, enforcement, processing and certain bond functions.
Portland, Eugene and Medford are ICE offices, not long-term detention centers.
Immigration Court
Handles the immigration case.
The Portland Immigration Court is separate from the ICE office. A transfer can affect where a detained case is handled; the official hearing notice controls.

If an Immigration Bond Has Already Been Set
If ICE or an immigration judge has already set the bond amount, Amistad can explain the next steps. You do not need to visit an Oregon ICE office or the detention facility to begin the Amistad process.
