    FIND SOMEONE

How Do I Find Someone at York County Detention Center?

Use ICE's official detainee locator. Search ICE's official detainee locator with the person's A-Number and country of birth, or their name and country of birth. The ACLU of South Carolina warns that a new custody record may take hours or days to appear and may not show until someone has been in ICE custody for more than 48 hours. Check again if you do not see a result.

You can also call (803) 628-3083 during regular detention information hours. Have the person's full name, any other names they use, date of birth, and country of birth ready.

Can't find them? York County's official detention page says it houses people for ICE under an agreement. ICE also published an oversight inspection listing for York County Detention Center covering August 12 to September 10, 2026. Neither source is a live list of current detainees. Call the facility and ask whether the person is there now and whether they are in ICE custody.

    VISITATION & CONTACT

    Visiting, Calling & Sending Money

York County publishes instructions for people held at the jail. The page does not say whether those instructions cover people held for ICE. Before you set up a visit, fund an account, or mail a payment, call (803) 628-3083 and ask what is allowed for this person's custody status.

    Visiting York County Detention Center

The sheriff's website says the person in custody must request visits and may list up to six visitors for approval. Visitors must be at least 17 and show government-issued photo ID. Up to two approved visitors may visit at one time during the assigned one-hour slot. The county also describes video visits. Ask the facility whether an ICE detainee can use these options and how to request approval.

    Calling Someone

The county says calls from inmates are outgoing, either collect or paid from a debit account. People in custody cannot receive ordinary incoming calls under the published jail instructions. For the telephone-services menu, call (803) 628-3083, option 4, then option 3. ICE-specific call access was not confirmed, so ask the jail before relying on these directions.

    Sending Money

The sheriff's page lists U.S. Postal Service or Western Union money orders for county inmates, sent separately from letters to the facility's street address with the person's name and ID number. It also directs families to the inmate banking/mail menu. These county instructions are not confirmed for ICE detainees. Call to verify the person's current location, ID, accepted payment type, and mailing address before sending funds.
