    NEBRASKA-SPECIFIC GUIDANCE

What Families in Nebraska Need to Know

    Immigration Bonds Are Federal

An immigration bond is part of the federal immigration process. It is different from bail in a Nebraska state or county criminal case.

Detention Locations Are Spread Across Nebraska

ICE may use a dedicated detention center or a county jail. Some Nebraska facilities are several hours from Omaha and Lincoln, making it important to confirm the exact location before traveling.

    Transfers Can Happen

Someone taken into ICE custody in Omaha, Lincoln or another Nebraska community may be moved to a different part of the state or transferred outside Nebraska.

    NEBRASKA DETENTION LOCATIONS

Where May Someone Be Detained in Nebraska?

ICE may use different facilities across Nebraska. Select the city or facility you recognize. If you are unsure, use our detainee locator guide before relying on facility-specific information.

Facility use and custody locations can change. Confirm where the person is currently being held before traveling, sending mail or using visitation information.

    OMAHA & LINCOLN CUSTODY

Taken Into ICE Custody in Omaha or Lincoln?

A person taken into ICE custody in Omaha or Lincoln may not remain in that city. ICE may move the person to McCook, North Platte, Holdrege or another facility.

Do not assume that the nearest ICE office, immigration court or county jail is the person's current detention location.

    Our Step-by-Step Locator Guide

If you do not know the facility—or do not have the A-Number—our guide explains how to search using the information available to you.

Three Nebraska Locations Families Often Confuse

The detention facility, ICE office and immigration court have different purposes. They may also be located in different cities.

    01

    Custody: Detention Facility

This is where the person is currently being held. Use the facility page for its address, contact information, visitation instructions and operational updates.

    02

ICE Matters: ICE Field Office or Sub-Office

ICE offices handle certain custody, enforcement and check-in matters. An ICE office address does not necessarily mean the person is detained there.

    03

    Immigration Case: Omaha Immigration Court

The Omaha Immigration Court handles immigration proceedings associated with Nebraska, but the court assigned to a particular person must be confirmed through the hearing notice or EOIR case information.

The immigration court is not a detention facility. A court address does not show where the person is being held.

    Compare Ways to Move Forward

Depending on the payer's eligibility and circumstances, the full bond amount may be paid through the government's process.

Amistad's surety bond option may be secured using cash collateral or qualifying property collateral. Review the costs, responsibilities and collateral requirements before deciding how to proceed.

    How Amistad Helps

Once the application, payment, collateral and agreement requirements are complete, Amistad prepares the surety bond documents and submits the bond electronically through ICE eBonds. Our team remains in contact while DHS processes the submission.

Amistad does not decide whether a bond is available and does not set the bond amount.
