An arrest in Honolulu, Hilo, Kahului, Lihue or another Hawaii community does not confirm the person's current detention location. The person may be held in Honolulu or later transferred elsewhere.

Honolulu's detention, ICE and court functions are separate. EOIR currently places Honolulu Federal Detention Center within the Honolulu Immigration Court administrative structure.

EOIR also lists Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation locations in its administrative structure because immigration proceedings can involve people incarcerated in state correctional facilities. That does not make every Hawaii correctional facility an ICE detention center. Always use the person's hearing notice and current EOIR information to confirm the individual case. These are government locations — not Amistad offices.
If You Were Told There Is No Bond
A no-bond determination depends on the legal authority for detention and the person's individual immigration history. Hawaii is within the Ninth Circuit. In July 2026, the Ninth Circuit held in Rodriguez Vazquez v. Bostock that people present in the interior of the United States without admission who are apprehended there are governed by the detention framework of 8 U.S.C. § 1226 rather than § 1225(b)(2)(A) in the circumstances addressed by that case.
That ruling does not mean everyone detained in Hawaii qualifies for bond. Other mandatory detention provisions, criminal history, final removal orders and individual circumstances can change the answer. Amistad cannot determine how the ruling applies to an individual case. Posting bail in a Hawaii criminal case does not automatically resolve ICE custody. If ICE takes custody after state release, the federal immigration bond status must be confirmed separately.
