What You Need to Search for Someone

    • Full legal name
    • Country of birth
    • Date of birth
    • A-Number, if available

The ICE locator requires exact information. When searching by A-Number, enter all nine digits, adding zeros at the beginning if necessary.

The Facility, ICE Office and Immigration Court Are Different

    Detention Facility

The jail or detention center where the person is physically held. Contact the facility for current custody and visitation information.

    ICE Office

The federal office responsible for parts of the person's immigration custody or removal process.

    Immigration Court

The court handling the immigration case. It may be located in another city or state, and some hearings may occur by video.

Do not assume the court based on the arrest city. Use the hearing notice or check the EOIR Automated Case Information System .

Has an Immigration Bond Already Been Set?

If ICE or an Immigration Judge has set an eligible bond, have the following information ready:

    Detainee's full legal name
    A-Number
    Current detention facility
    Bond type and amount
Name and phone number of the person requesting help

You do not need every detail before calling. We can help you identify what is still missing.

Has a Bond Not Been Set Yet?

Amistad cannot determine bond eligibility, set a bond, reduce the amount or request a bond hearing. Those decisions are controlled by DHS or the Immigration Court.

For legal advice about eligibility or requesting a hearing, speak with a licensed immigration attorney.

    Review Your Payment Options

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is a county bail bond the same as an immigration bond?
No. A county bond relates to a criminal or local court case. An immigration bond relates to federal immigration custody. A person can complete a county case and still remain in custody because of ICE.
Can someone be transferred outside Alabama?
Yes. A person may move from a local Alabama jail to another facility in Alabama or another state. Confirm the current location before traveling or starting a bond payment.
Why is the person not appearing in the ICE locator?
They may still be in local custody, recently transferred or being processed. Check the spelling and country of birth, try the A-Number search and contact the known jail if the arrest was recent.
Do I need to live in Alabama?
No. Amistad can provide immigration bond application assistance remotely, subject to eligibility, collateral and approval requirements.
Do I need to travel to the detention facility?
Usually not to begin the bond process with Amistad. Contact the facility directly before planning a visit.
Which immigration court is handling the case?
Court assignment depends on the person's case and custody location. Use the official hearing notice or the EOIR case information system instead of assuming the court from the arrest city.
What if no immigration bond has been set?
You may still call to understand what information is missing. For legal advice about bond eligibility or requesting a hearing, contact an immigration attorney.
