    The Arrest Location May Not Be the Detention Location

    A person taken into ICE custody in Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, Greensboro, or another North Carolina city may be held elsewhere or transferred to another state. The city of arrest does not prove where the person is being held now. Confirm the facility first.

    Criminal Bail and an Immigration Bond Are Separate

    An arrest can involve a county criminal case, an immigration custody matter, or both. Paying a criminal bail bond does not automatically resolve ICE custody, and an immigration bond does not replace a criminal bond. Confirm which bond has been set before making a payment.

    These locations serve different purposes. The person may be detained in one city while ICE and the immigration court use offices in Charlotte.
