Where Is the Person Being Held in South Dakota?
ICE's current public detention-facility directory includes Pennington County Jail in Rapid City. It is a county jail that can hold people in ICE custody; it is not an ICE-only facility.
A person taken into custody in Sioux Falls, Rapid City or another South Dakota community may be moved before the family receives complete information. Confirm the current detention location before traveling, sending documents or relying on facility-specific instructions.

View Rapid City Detention InformationSioux Falls has an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations office at 2708 N. 1st Avenue. ICE also lists that address as a government bond-acceptance location and instructs the public to call for an appointment.
The Sioux Falls office is not the same place as Pennington County Jail and should not be treated as proof of where the person is detained. Use the ICE locator or confirm custody before visiting.

Not Sure Where the Person Is Now?
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with the person's A-Number. If you do not have it, search with the full legal name, country of birth and date of birth when available.
A new detention record may not appear immediately. Check spelling and identifying information, and contact the appropriate ICE ERO office when needed.
The Arrest City May Not Be the Detention Location
Someone encountered by ICE in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Watertown, Pierre or another community may be processed locally and held somewhere else. ICE can also transfer a person to another state. The arrest city does not establish the current facility.
Court Verification

ICE ERO Office
Handles enforcement, check-ins, custody coordination and certain bond functions.
ICE lists offices in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. They are separate from the jail.

Handles the immigration case and hearing schedule.
EOIR lists Fort Snelling for non-detained South Dakota cases and certain correctional matters. The hearing notice and case-status record control for the individual case.
